What-success-looks-like

What’s up everyone!!!???

It has been quite some time since I have updated this site, and I have always told myself that I’d eventually get to it, but unfortunately life kept getting in the way by means of laziness and procrastination. Anyway, I’m back and I’m ready to update.

Last time I left off, I talked about dieting and my progress with cutting. Well, I’m here to update that unfortunately, I fell off that track and stayed where I fell off. Unfortunately, I’m certainly guilty of always going through this: You start off strong on a Monday morning by waking up first thing at 5AM, you head over to your dresser and you get your gym gear ready, you lace up your shoes and you hit up the gym for some cardio, head back home and prepare for the rest of your day – and it feels great! Then suddenly, Tuesday hits, or maybe Wednesday, and you suddenly are a different person and you’re no longer the same strong individual you were at the beginning of the week.

Then the weekend rolls around and you have completely turned yourself 180 degrees.

But what causes this? Does this mean that those who aspire to be great only to fail within days of beginning something new, are destined for mediocrity? Unfortunately, as soon as you fall off those tracks, it is difficult to get back on, especially if you don’t have the discipline for it. Keep your head up though, I’m here to tell you that you’re probably not as bad as I am with my inconsistencies, and if you are, that’s fine too.

What isn’t fine, is if we stick to this trend week in, week out.

If you haven’t noticed, we’re already almost four months into 2016. Surely most humans haven’t stuck to their “new years resolutions,” or have at least completely 1/4 or maybe 1/2 of their list, or are actually staying on top of it entirely. Don’t let this discourage you – those you see that are continuously successful, and if you’re falling behind like the broken wheel on a wagon getting dragged across a rocky field. There is still time, and there will always BE time, for you to get yourself to where you want to be. The only thing that is up to you, is doing it.

Remember that the EASIEST thing to do, is typically the one that gets you ZERO results because it is not CHALLENGING you on any level.

Let’s connect this to gaming, when you are up against players that are below you in terms of skill, while you get a massive boost in confidence because you’re kicking ass, are they actually improving YOUR gaming? Do they boost your accuracy and reaction time? Not at all, you’re simply maintaining your already acquired skill.

But the moment you are placed up against players who are of your level, or higher, you quickly begin to realize just how much you need to improve on, because now you’re getting punished left and right, and you’re now playing like those lower level players YOU were punishing before.

The same can be said with lifting: If you’re going into the gym to rep out 95lb. barbell curls for 12-15 reps day in and day out, because #everydayisarmday, then your muscle is maintaining the same strength and you’re simply breaking down on the same fibers you tore before, and it isn’t repairing itself towards anything bigger.

However, slap on some 45s and rep that out four to six reps, and you’ll start noticing that you begin growing again.

It’s all about striving towards a better version of you, even if its in small ways.

:Every day, challenge yourself at least once:

With that said, I’m going to get myself back on track, especially now.

Latest accomplishments:

  1. Promoted to Network Engineer at my company. No more help desk work! This is a major step, not only career-wise, but also personally.
  2. I actually read a book, half way through now… To be truthfully honest, I’ve never read a book this far. Last time I did, I was in middle school, and we were all reading it together.
  3. FRONT SQUATTED 315lbs:

Outside of this, everything has been going pretty well – I have been hovering around 225lbs, been eating tons of junk food and such, but I’m back on meal prepping. I won’t be competing in April, but I am now aiming to compete in November – same show.

I hope everyone’s year has been going well, I hope everyone had a great Easter, and I hope everyone is doing great!

Stay strong, stay amazing guys!
