Chest day, the most coveted, treasured, appreciated, critical day of the week for all gym goers, and why not? It is one of the most dominant features on a man’s physique (if trained properly) alongside arms and delts. But let’s be real, too many people emphasize training their chest and biceps more often than any other body part. Sure, we can run away with thinking that “girls don’t care about legs, besides, they’ll be covered in jeans,” and the also popular, “I’m going to the beach, I need to look diesel in this tank, or shirtless…”
While it is true, we can throw on pants and hide our legs, or some girls only care about the upper body (shredded abs, chest, juicy arms), it is the real women who can shake the weak foundation a boy’s chicken legs has, and completely shatter his world from underneath.
I have no idea where I’m going with this, so ONTO MY CHEST DAY RECAP!!!
As I’ve stated previously, I’ve begun working with higher rep ranges with moderate amounts of set, pumping out reps and engorging each muscle group with as much blood as possible. With my powerbuilding background, I used to emphasize on building power and strength through flat bench first, and moving onto the rest of my bodybuilding-focused workout by performing incline presses, flyes, and the latter.
Here is a run-through of my chest workout last night:
Incline barbell press, 5×8-10: 135 | 155 | 175 | 185 | 200*
*Dropset: Stripped down to 135 and did another eight reps for further stimulation.
Seated (cable machine) incline flye, 4×12-15, 1×8-10
Flat dumbbell press, 4×8-10: 70 | 80 | 90 | 105
Flat dumbbell flye, 4×12-15
Pec Deck, 4×12-15, 1×10-12
Seated (cable machine) decline flye, 3×12-15
–superset–
Hammer strength decline press, 3×10-12
This workout took +/- 90 minutes, I enjoy taking my time with sets and increasing TUT (Time-Under-Tension (moving through each rep at a slower pace as opposed (three second eccentric, one second concentric as opposed to one second – one second))).
My chest was pumped, I could barely move my shoulders and arms around as my chest got in the way. Wasn’t able to do any tricep finishing exercises because I was that exhausted from my efforts!
I also performed 20 minutes of cardio on the stairmaster, as I’m trying to burn this fat.
All in all, another fantastic/10 session, now onto back day tonight, with my all-time favorite – deadlifts.
